Realizing Growth as a Sustainable, Vital Corporate Group

Yoshimitsu KobayashiMitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation (MCHC) aspires to achieve sustainable growth as a trusted, leading global company, using the concepts of sustainability, health and comfort as the basis for determining corporate activities. Under APTSIS* 10, the mid-term management plan we began in 2008, we are engaged in a comprehensive series of initiatives for growth both domestically and abroad. We have undertaken structural reform by withdrawing from unprofitable businesses, and moved beyond a pure organic growth strategy. We are pursuing seven next-generation growth businesses, and engaging in strategic M&A―for example through the management integration with Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd. We are taking comprehensive steps to strengthen our business foundation, reinforce our overall Group capabilities, and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions such as CO2.

Our approach to reducing CO2 emissions extends beyond simple measures to reduce output, instead using the concept of comprehensive LCA (lifecycle analysis). Accordingly, we are working on advances in LED lighting, battery materials and other products through which we can contribute to a more sustainable and appropriate "KAITEKI*" society.

In April 2010, Mitsubishi Rayon Co., Ltd. became part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group, creating a group structure based on four core businesses. With our concerted group-wide activities, we aim to contribute to higher corporate value. We sincerely thank you for your support, and look forward to your continuing interest in the management of our business.
