The Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group cooperates in activities to spread product stewardship promoted by the chemicals industry as a member of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA). As part of such activities, the MCHC Group has been proactively participating in initiatives to tackle global issues related to microplastics in recent years.
Furthermore, with respect to new chemicals management beyond the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) 2020 goals (aimed at minimizing the significant negative impact of the manufacturing/use of chemical substances on human health and the environment by 2020), we are seeking to not only resolve environmental and social issues as a chemicals manufacturer but also contribute toward the sustainable development of society and our planet Earth, in order to realize KAITEKI pursued by the Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group.
Response to chemicals regulations in Japan and overseas
In order to comply with chemicals management regulations in Japan as represented by the Act on the Regulation of Manufacture and Evaluation of Chemical Substances and the Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Act, as well as chemicals management regulations in export destinations in Europe, the U.S., China and other parts of Asia, etc. without fail, the Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group has an internal structure in place to collect information on the latest legal and regulatory developments, share such information promptly within the Group, and adhere to laws and regulations in a precise and reliable manner.
Providing reliable information
The Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group is also proactively promoting efforts to provide information on product composition, hazardousness and handling in the form of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in accordance with the format of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) not only in Japan but also in other countries.
Obtaining information on chemical substances contained in products
MCHC Group companies proactively obtain information on chemical substances used and contained in MCHC products and direct their efforts into their management as well.
